Story of the Hands: Radha – Weaving Memories with Sikki

in May 30, 2025

Meet Radha, a Sikki artist from the heart of Madhubani—Raiyam village—who began weaving at the tender age of 8, guided by her grandmother’s gentle hands and watchful eyes. What began as a childhood curiosity soon became her life’s calling.

Today, Radha stands as a proud daughter of Bihar and a custodian of a fading heritage. She weaves not just golden grass, but stories, emotions, and the essence of her homeland. Innocent, pure, rustic, and colourful—her work subtly carries the flavour of the village she calls home.

Through every curve and coil, Radha’s craft reflects the simplicity of rural life and the strength of a woman committed to keeping tradition alive—one strand at a time.

At Akkaara, we’re honoured to bring her story to you through our Story of the Hands series. Share her story to support Radha and the vibrant legacy of Sikki craft—because traditions survive only when we choose to listen.
